LisbonBirthday: Spring 2011
“Lizzie” is a laid back girl. Her gait is slow, quiet, and careful. She’s like a big teddy bear you can’t help but love on, though she’d rather you not cause she’s way too cool for affection. She was surrendered, along with her sister, Jane, at 3 years old for a slowed egg production.

IvyBirthday: 2016
Ivy is a sensitive, shy little hen. When she arrived at the sanctuary with her sister, Quinn and Harley, she was the smallest of the bunch. They were all infested with lice and have toes that curl under - probably caused by poor nutrition as chicks. Of the three, she was in the worst condition. She was emaciated and weak. Now, with proper nutrition and medical care, she has put on weight and is thriving!

MazeBirthday: 2014
Maze is sweet and incredibly chill. This laid back girl came from a place with poor animal husbandry and negligence and her health has suffered for it. She has a chronic eye irritation that needs treated several times daily in order to keep her comfortable. We have high hopes that with enough TLC her eyes will fully heal. For all that she has suffered she really is a laid back, social girl.

DeckerBirthday: 2014
Decker has some health issues too as a result of her previous living conditions. She is a confident chicken who has a lot of traits you normally only see in roosters. Her tail is upturned in a way that looks like a young rooster, she has small spurs on her legs, and some mornings she crows! We love Decker's attitude. She likes to crawl under Maze and hide there when she's feeling insecure.

SamBirthday: 2013
We don't know the full story, but Sam was handed over to us in a paper bag. She was incredibly frightened of humans when she first arrived and had rub spots on her wings as a result of poor animal husbandry. Now she enjoys jumping to snag treats out of our hands or from the bushes. This girl is food motivated!

DeanBirthday: 2013
Dean came from the same situation as Sam (above). Her early days of having to survive in poor conditions has given Dean a chip on her shoulder! She doesn't like people much and she doesn't really like other chickens either. She is a grumpy girl, but we understand (we'd be grumpy too if someone put us in a paper bag) and we love her anyway!

DjaliDjali was surrendered to the sanctuary as part of an effort to give Modo some friends to help keep him alive. Chicks don't do well on their own. Djali LOVES Modo. They immediately took a liking to Modo - cuddling with him and attempting to protect Modo from the scary human hands.
