Our Story:
Forget Me Not Farm Sanctuary was started as a private sanctuary on an acre of land back in 2015 with just a handful of chickens. The founders, Rachel and Mike, cared for and rescued exclusively chickens for the first three years. In 2018 they rescued three rabbits and two turkeys, making space by giving up half their living room for a rabbit habitat and clearing out a shed for the turkeys. In early 2019 they rescued 10 pigs from a local meat farm and, later that summer, a one week old piglet.
Later in 2019 the sanctuary made our big move from the founders' one-acre plot to a five-acre plot in Eagle River. We have now expanded and grown to care for four different farmed animal species and 34 individuals who currently call the sanctuary home. In 2019 we applied for and received non-profit 501(c)3 status through the IRS.

Our Mission:
To protect farm animals through rescue and community education.
Our Vision:
We envision a world where farmed animals are treated with respect and compassion. We hope our work can connect people to the individuality and personhood of farmed animals to foster that compassion and encourage a lifestyle of the least amount of harm through plant-based, vegan choices. We are not against farmers, but against unnecessary animal cruelty and death.
Our Values:
Compassion - We take the perspective of and feel the emotions of others and have the desire to help.
Respect - We hold high regard for the feelings, rights, and wishes of others.
Gratitude - We show appreciation for even the smallest things and look to return the kindness shown to us.
Integrity - Our actions are guided by honesty and ethics.
